Saisei Karate is a traditional Shotokan school focused on fundamental training methods with an emphasis on personal development.
The Japanese word Saisei means "Rebirth" or "Regeneration"
Our emblem is The Phoenix which symbolizes Strength, Transformation and Renewal.
Through the 3 foundational pillars of Shotokan, which are Kihon, Kata & Kumite, the student will not only learn self-defense but they will train their body, mind & spirit to be strong. Karate promotes positive values such as dedication, focus, and respect which can be applied to every aspect of our lives.

Kevin Downard - Chief Instructor - 4th Dan
The word Sensei means teacher in Japanese but in a deeper explanation a "Sensei" is "the one who comes before".
Sensei Kevin Downard has been studying Shotokan Karate since 2005. Because of his passion for Shotokan Karate, in 2011 he started teaching and opened his own dojo.
He is the Owner and Head Instructor of Saisei Karate Dojo.
Sensei Kevin teaches the Saisei Karate After-school Program,
bringing the spirit of karate to several local school districts in the area. Inspiring and Empowering this generation of youth!
Along with several other dojos, he also helped facilitate the development of the Independent Shotokan Alliance in 2022. ISA is a group of like-minded Karateka who can train and learn together without organizational politics.
